Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) has issued a formal protest and solidarity statement condemning military aggression by the United States and Israel in Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and caused significant casualties.

The student body expressed deep disturbance that these military actions occurred while diplomatic negotiations were still ongoing, describing the use of force as an irresponsible escalation that undermines the role of peaceful dialogue and erodes global trust in diplomacy.

Ducsu noted that the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei marks a significant moment in the conflict that may contribute to further instability and suffering across the region.

As advocates for justice and human dignity, Ducsu called upon the international community to immediately prioritise genuine diplomatic engagement to halt further violence and to hold the USA and Israel accountable for violating international law by killing a head of state and civilians.

The statement further urged for the upholding of international humanitarian law to ensure the protection of all non-combatants and demanded a transparent investigation and accountability for actions that violate international norms.

Additionally, the union called for humanitarian assistance for the injured and displaced, while urging a total rejection of violence in favour of negotiation and mutual understanding.

Standing in solidarity with the people of Iran, Ducsu called on the global student movement to join their urge for an immediate end to military aggression and a renewed commitment to diplomatic pathways that honour human life and dignity.
