The government has sent Agriculture Secretary Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian into forced retirement, marking the first such instance under the Tarique Rahman-led BNP government.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Sunday regarding the decision. According to the notification, Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian has completed 25 years in service, and the government has deemed his retirement necessary in the public interest.
The ministry cited Section 45 of the Public Service Act-2018, stating that he will receive retirement benefits as per the rules.
As per the law, the government retains the authority to retire any employee without justification if an individual has completed 25 years of service. In such instances, employees are entitled to full retirement benefits along with other applicable entitlements.
