Gold prices have increased following two consecutive rounds of price reductions. The price of 22-carat gold climbed by Tk3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams) to stand at Tk2,58,824.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price hike through a press release on Saturday.
The price of 21-carat gold is now Tk2,47,102 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk2,11,760 per bhori, and traditional method gold is set at Tk1,73,327 per bhori.
BAJUS said the adjustment was made in line with overall market conditions following a rise in the local price of tejabi gold, or pure gold.
The notice further said 5% VAT and a minimum wage of 6% must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also been increased in the local market. Currently, 22‑carat silver is selling at Tk6,707 per bhori, 21‑carat at Tk6,415 per bhori, 18‑carat at Tk5,482 per bhori, and traditional silver at Tk4,082 per bhori.
