Police have arrested a leader of the banned organisation Chhatra League from the Lal Dighi area under Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram city early Thursday.
The arrestee Qayede Azam Bacchu, 26, was taken into custody around 1:30am on Thursday during a raid at the South Chattogram District Awami League office.
Officer-in-Charge Aftab Uddin said acting on a tip-off, a team conducted the drive.
“Preliminary evidence indicates his involvement in attacks on students and civilians participating in anti-discrimination movements,” he added.
Authorities also confirmed that Bacchu faces three pending cases at Lohagara Police Station. He will be produced in court following due legal procedures.
