The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has formed a four-member inquiry committee to investigate corruption allegations levelled against Mahbub Morshed, the managing director and chief editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
The committee was formed to ensure a neutral, transparent, and fair review of the allegations recently published in various media outlets.
An additional secretary (Grade-1) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will serve as the committee’s chairman. The other members include the principal information officer of Press Information Department and the director general of the Department of Mass Communication.
The senior assistant secretary (Press-1) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been appointed as member secretary.
According to an order issued by the ministry on Thursday, the committee is mandated to conduct a thorough review of the allegations, record statements from relevant parties, and carry out necessary investigative activities.
The committee has been directed to submit a comprehensive report, including specific recommendations, by 25 February 2026.
