Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has addressed online trolls in a strongly worded Facebook post following the 13th National Parliamentary Election, turning criticism into a message about personal choice and unity.
As voters across Bangladesh headed to polling stations, with women seen in large numbers, Badhon took to social media to reflect on the moment. Describing the aftermath of the vote as a “proud” and “relieving” time, she congratulated the nation and said she felt grateful and accomplished.
However, it was her response to online mockery that drew particular attention. Sharing a side by side photograph of herself in a saree and in a burkha, the actress directly addressed those who had previously taunted her by suggesting she would be forced to wear a burkha after the election.
In her post, Badhon explained that wearing a burkha has long been part of her daily life and personal routine. She described it as simply another form of clothing, sometimes chosen for practicality or privacy. By sharing the images, she made clear that her identity and choices are not defined by political rhetoric or online abuse.
The actress concluded her message by calling for respect and unity, saying that regardless of the outcome, the country must move forward together. Her remarks have since sparked conversation online, with many praising her for confronting trolling with composure and confidence.
