The Election Commission (EC) has imposed a 105-hour ban on all public rallies and processions in electoral areas during the election period.

Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, director of public relations at the EC, said on Monday that the ban will be enforced under Section 78 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972.

According to the EC, the restriction will begin at 7:30am on 10 February and continue until 4:30pm on 14 February.

The ban covers the 48-hour period before voting and the 48-hour period after voting, as stipulated by law.

However, the election campaigning will end at 7:30am on Tuesday, 10 February.

Voting is scheduled for 12 February, from 7:30am to 4:30pm in 299 constituencies.

Polling in Sherpur-3 has been postponed following the death of the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate. A referendum will also be held on the same day.
