India set out their position on Pakistan’s proposed match boycott on Monday, with the BCCI making it clear they will follow the ICC’s call after talks in Lahore signalled movement in the long-running stand-off.
Pakistani media reported that an ICC meeting in Lahore on Sunday eased the deadlock and pushed Pakistan closer to stepping back from their decision to skip the India fixture at the T20 World Cup.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla kept India firmly on the sidelines. “I have already made it clear that whatever decision the ICC takes, we will go by that,” he said, stripping the issue of any bilateral edge.
Shukla underlined that India would not lobby or bargain. “The BCCI has nothing to say on this matter,” he added, a statement that leaves the authority squarely with the ICC.
Geo TV reported that the PCB will now consult the Pakistani government before issuing a formal announcement. That step matters, because the boycott call came from the highest political level rather than cricket administrators alone.
The Lahore meeting brought key figures into the same room. ICC deputy chairman Imran Khwaja represented the global body, while PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul joined discussions.
Naqvi said Pakistan would play India if three demands are accepted, though he did not detail them publicly. That line suggests negotiation rather than confrontation now drives the process.
