Bangladesh will begin preparations for their upcoming tour against Afghanistan with the first group of players scheduled to arrive in the United Arab Emirates on October 1.
The tour will feature a one-off Test against Afghanistan before Bangladesh take part in an ODI tri-series involving the hosts and Zimbabwe.
The first group will have practice sessions in Dubai on October 2 and 3. They will then play a two-day warm-up match against the UAE in Dubai on October 4 and 5.
The second group of Bangladesh players will arrive from Japan on October 6 following their Asian Games campaign. The full team will then travel to Abu Dhabi, with practice sessions scheduled for October 7 and 8.
Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in the only Test at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 13. Play is scheduled from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm local time each day.
The match will mark Bangladesh’s first experience of playing Test cricket in the UAE. After the Test, Bangladesh will have three days for rest and practice before switching their attention to the ODI tri-series.
Their first match of the competition will be against Zimbabwe at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on October 17. Afghanistan will then face Zimbabwe at the same venue on October 19. Bangladesh will meet Afghanistan in their second match on October 21, with that game taking place in Sharjah.
The top two sides will qualify for the final, which is scheduled for October 23 in Sharjah.
Bangladesh are due to leave the UAE on October 24, bringing an end to a tour that will keep them away from home for more than three weeks.
The tour also creates a quick turnaround for the players currently representing Bangladesh at the Asian Games in Japan. They are scheduled to join the rest of the squad in the UAE on October 6, leaving only a few days to prepare for the Test against Afghanistan.
