United City Twin Tower Developers Ltd conducted a comprehensive fire drill at Gulshan Centre Point (GCP), a high-rise commercial complex, on Tuesday in collaboration with the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD). The exercise was aimed at strengthening fire prevention readiness, improving firefighting skills, and reinforcing emergency rescue and evacuation procedures in a high-rise commercial environment.
The drill involved the deployment of firefighting and rescue equipment, including a turntable ladder for high-rise rescue, a water carrier, a water pump vehicle, an ambulance, and rope rappelling systems, simulating real-life emergency response conditions. As part of the scenario, occupants were evacuated using trolleys, wheelchairs, and manual carry techniques, demonstrating procedures for rescuing injured and mobility-impaired individuals.
The exercise was led by Senior Station Officer Sayed Monirul Islam of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Baridhara Station. United Group Fire Marshal Mohammad Tariqul Islam highlighted that regular fire drills are crucial for ensuring emergency preparedness, raising occupant awareness, and complying with national fire safety regulations.
Gulshan Centre Point, which accommodates more than 2,500 occupants daily, houses several local and international corporate offices. The drill saw participation from security and building management teams, as well as representatives from tenant organisations, ensuring coordinated evacuation efforts throughout the building.
FSCD officials and management representatives expressed satisfaction with the overall execution of the exercise, emphasising that such drills are vital for strengthening emergency response capabilities and safeguarding occupants in high-rise commercial buildings.
