Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) honoured 10 leading IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) exporters at the BASIS IT Exporters’ Night 2026 on Tuesday. The awardees included BJIT Limited, Brain Station 23 Limited, ULKASEMI Private Limited, SELISE Digital Platforms, Cefalo Bangladesh Limited, Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Limited, Enosis Solutions, Therap (BD) Limited, Radiant Data Systems Limited and Data Path Limited, recognised for their contributions to Bangladesh’s export earnings in fiscal year 2024–25.
The event brought together exporters, policymakers, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and industry leaders. BASIS reported that its member companies are currently exporting software and IT services to over 104 countries worldwide, with nearly 500 member companies involved in export activities during fiscal year 2024–25, including approximately 300 regular exporters.
The primary markets for Bangladesh’s IT exports include the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Canada.
Event convener Rowshan Kamal James remarked that Bangladesh’s IT and ITES sector has entered a phase of tangible success. He highlighted that the awards serve to recognise top exporters while motivating emerging companies in the sector.
BASIS founding member Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke reflected on the organisation’s journey from its initial days, saying the Exporters’ Night represents a milestone to celebrate achievements, understand current realities, and shape the future of the sector.
ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, who was the chief guest, noted that the IT and ITES sector has become a key driver of Bangladesh’s economy, underpinned by skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and timely government policies. He emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting IT as an export-oriented industry, including cash incentives, skill development, and measures to enhance access to global markets.
BASIS Administrator Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan shared that BASIS membership has expanded from 18 to over 2,700 companies, making its members central to Bangladesh’s IT export success. He stressed that the next phase of growth depends on four key pillars: cash incentives, tax benefits, human capital development, and improved access to international markets.
A panel discussion during the event focused on the prospects and challenges of IT exports for economic diversification. The discussion featured SELISE Bangladesh Limited MD Julian Andrin Weber, Brain Station 23 PLC CEO Raisul Kabir, Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd MD Ferdous Mahmud Shaon, and JICA Bangladesh Senior Representative Morikawa Yuko. The speakers underlined the importance of coordinated efforts between policymakers, the financial sector, and the private sector to expand IT exports.
The event also saw remarks from government officials, development partners, and banking sector representatives.
