Bogura will host competitive handball action from Wednesday as the Cute Handball League 2026 gets underway at the football ground beside Shaheed Chandu Stadium.
The Bogura District Sports Association organises the tournament with sponsorship from Cute. Ten teams will compete until January 31.
Bogura Deputy Commissioner Taufikur Rahman will officially open the league at 10am on January 28. Organisers have split the teams into two groups.
Group A features Nichindara Fakir Uddin Handball Team, Police Lines Handball Team, Seven Star Handball Club, H.N Handball Club (White) and Master Handball Club. Group B includes Beat Handball Club, Talora Handball Club, H.N Handball Club (Red), Shibganj Handball Club and BIAM Handball Club.
Matches will run daily from morning to late afternoon. The opening day alone packs in seven games.
Nichindara Fakir Uddin face Police Lines in the first match. Beat Handball Club then take on Talora Handball Club in the second fixture.
The group stage runs through January 30. Teams must manage fitness and rotation with little recovery time.
January 31 will decide everything. The two semi-finals will take place in the morning.
The Group A champions will meet the Group B runners-up in the first semi-final. The remaining two qualifiers will contest the second.
The day will finish with a third-place play-off followed by the final at 3pm. Shaheed Chandu Stadium now stands ready for four intense days of handball.
