Students of Tejgaon College on Sunday morning blocked the road in the capital’s Farmgate area, demanding justice for a fellow student.
Following the blockade, traffic at the Farmgate intersection and surrounding roads came to a halt, causing severe congestion. The protesters took position on the road around 9:45am.
They occupied the Farmgate intersection and nearby roads, chanting slogans, which left office-goers and commuters facing severe hardship.
On 6 December last year, a clash broke out between two groups at the Tejgaon College dormitory. During the incident, Sakibul Hasan Rana, 18, a higher secondary student of the college, was seriously injured. Four days later, on 10 December, he died while undergoing treatment.
