Hamza Choudhury has become a name full of emotion for football fans in Bangladesh. His fame has spread across South Asia as well. Last September, the Bangladesh team went to Nepal to play a friendly match. The Nepali fans were eager to see Hamza, but he could not join the trip due to injury.
Before the Asian Cup qualifier against India, Bangladesh will play Nepal at home tomorrow. Nepali captain Kiran Limbu will also get the chance to share the field with Hamza.
At a pre-match press conference today, Kiran said, “Yes. I had also wanted him to play in that match in Nepal, but unfortunately he could not. Now we see him here, and we are in Dhaka. My whole team and I are excited to play with him.”
Kiran mentioned the fans’ excitement for facing Hamza as well. He said, “All Nepalis are following the news and everything about Hamza. All Nepali football fans are really excited to see him in tomorrow’s match. I believe it will be a fun and competitive game. Of course, I am also happy to share this beautiful game with such a big name.”
Even with Hamza in the team, Nepali coach Hari Khadka is not afraid. He said, “The Bangladesh-Nepal match is always challenging. Now with Hamza and other players added, Bangladesh is a complete team. But we are not afraid of them. Football is a team game. Individual skills matter, but at the end of the day it is a team sport. We are ready for tomorrow’s match.”
