A total of nine patients with measles symptoms have been identified in Gaibandha, with three of them undergoing treatment at Gaibandha General Hospital.

During a visit to Gaibandha General Hospital on Thursday, special isolation was observed within the children’s ward. All three of those admitted with measles symptoms are children, and they are being treated in the isolation ward.

Patients arriving with measles symptoms are admitted there and treated under close observation.

Guardians reported that the illness initially started with a cold, fever, and diarrhoea, for which they sought local treatment. When the condition worsened, they brought the children to the hospital upon the advice of doctors.

Residential Medical Officer of the hospital Asif said, “There are nine patients with measles symptoms. They are all child patients. Six patients have returned home after receiving treatment. And three patients are currently being treated at the hospital. We are keeping those who come in affected separate.”

He stated, “We are advising patients admitted with measles symptoms to take Vitamin A capsules and drink plenty of water. Moreover, our paediatricians provide regular medical advice based on the nature of the disease. There is no reason to panic.”
