Under the slogan “See the Science, Be the Change,” the 7th National Science Fair is set to begin on 17 October at Jahangirnagar University (JU). The two-day event is being organized by the renowned student organization, Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC).
At a press conference held on Thursday at 6pm in the university’s Teacher-Student Centre seminar room, JUSC President Md Saurav shared details about the upcoming event.
He announced that students from schools, colleges, and universities across the country will participate in 10 different segments, including the Math Olympiad, Biology Olympiad, Science Quiz, Four-Minute Presentation, Poster Presentation, Project Showcasing, Rubik’s Cube Competition, and Science Open Speech, among others.
The first day of the festival, 17 October, will feature the inauguration ceremony and several competitions held at the university’s school and college buildings.
The second day, 18 October, will host the remaining events along with the award-giving ceremony at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium.
JUSC general secretary and chief coordinator of the fair Musa, said that around 1,000 young science enthusiasts from different educational institutions across the country are expected to participate.
He added that the event aims to inspire the younger generation toward science and foster a research-oriented mindset among them
President Saurav emphasized the importance of scientific thinking in the modern age of information technology, stating, “Mathematics is the foundation of science. Through this Olympiad and fair, we aim to spread the light of science among the new generation.”
Founded on 17 August, 2005, JUSC has been working tirelessly to promote science education nationwide.
The organization regularly arranges national math Olympiads, science fairs, workshops, and seminars. Additionally, through its own publications- “Nucleus” and “Orbital”- the club continues to encourage scientific thinking among students.
