Seven more people have died with measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
Among the deceased, three had confirmed measles, while four others were suspected of having the disease.
Since the outbreak began on 15 March, confirmed measles cases have led to 42 deaths, while 198 people have died from suspected cases.
In the last 24 hours alone, 1,215 new suspected cases and 172 confirmed cases of measles were identified.
According to the DGHS, the total number of suspected cases now stands at 29,559, with 4,231 confirmed diagnoses of measles.
The department also reported that 19,705 patients, both suspected and confirmed, have been hospitalized for treatment, while 16,527 patients have recovered and returned home.
The Dhaka Division continues to be the hardest hit by the outbreak. In the past 24 hours, 545 new suspected cases and 139 confirmed cases were reported in the region. During this period, the division also recorded six deaths-four suspected and two confirmed cases.
Other divisions such as Chattogram, Rajshahi, and Khulna have also seen a rise in suspected measles cases, with 172, 247, and 95 cases, respectively.
In response to the rising cases, the government’s “National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Program 2026” continues to roll out across the country.
As of 23 April, 6,268,428 children have been vaccinated, reaching 98 percent of the program’s target. In the past 24 hours, 1,055,255 children received the measles-rubella vaccine, with particular emphasis on meeting vaccination goals in Dhaka’s North and South City Corporations.
