The government has promoted five officers of the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG) in the Bangladesh Police to the position of additional inspector general of police.
These promotions, which fall under Grade-2 of the National Pay Scale 2015, were announced on Thursday through a notification issued by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs following a directive from the Ministry of Public Administration.
The promoted officers include Md Mushfequr Rahman, DIG of Sylhet Range; Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, Director (DIG) of the NSI in Dhaka; Md Moniruzzaman, DIG of Chattogram Range; Faruk Ahmed, Additional Director General (DIG) of RAB; and Rezaul Karim Mallick, DIG of Dhaka Range.
According to the notification, which was signed by Deputy Secretary Touhid Ahmed by order of the President, the promotions will take effect from the date the officers join their new posts. These officials are required to submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs through the appropriate authorities.
In a concurrent development, the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a separate notification elevating two officers of the rank of Additional IGP to Grade-1.
Following the Ministry of Public Administration’s order on Thursday, the officers promoted to Grade-1 under the National Pay Scale 2015 are Md Delowar Hossain Mia, Additional IGP of the Highway Police, and AKM Awlad Hossain, Additional IGP at Police Headquarters.
The notification for the Grade-1 elevations, also signed by Deputy Secretary Touhid Ahmed, stipulates that the orders have been issued in public interest and will become effective upon the officers’ joining dates.
Like their Grade-2 counterparts, these promoted officials must submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs through the proper channels.
