Four people were killed and five others injured in a US missile strike near the south-western Iranian city of Ahvaz, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.
Multiple explosions were heard in Ahvaz earlier in the day, accointernationading to the Fars News Agency.
The US military said on Thursday that it had launched a 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iran as clashes intensified over key shipping routes, reports AP/UNB.
The latest attacks came after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they had targeted two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, raising fears that the conflict could widen as global oil prices climbed above $100 a barrel, the Associated Press reported.
Shortly afterwards, Iranian state media reported explosions near the Strait of Hormuz in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas, where two people were injured.
Blasts were also reported further north-west near Andimeshk, Omidiyeh and Firuzabad.
