Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van on Bogura-Naogaon highway in Kahaloo upazila on Saturday morning.
The incident took place around 10am in Kazipara area.
One of the deceased was identified as Lutfar Rahman, 50, a fish trader. The other three victims were the pickup driver, his helper and another fish trader.
Kahaloo Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam said the pickup was returning to Mymensingh after selling fish in Naogaon.
The collision occurred when the pickup attempted to overtake another vehicle and crashed into an oncoming truck bound for Naogaon.
The impact left the front of the pickup completely mangled, killing all the four on the spot. The truck driver and his helper fled the scene.
Police and Fire Service personnel recovered the bodies and cleared the vehicles from the highway after the crash, which temporarily disrupted traffic.
OC Shafiqul Islam said the family of the identified victim had been informed, while efforts were underway to identify the remaining three victims.
