At least four people were killed in a bus fire following a collision with an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in the Baniyapara area of Daudkandi upazila, located on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon and was confirmed by Iqbal Bahar Majumdar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police Station.
The collision involved a bus named Saint Martin, and it led to a catastrophic fire. Fire service teams quickly arrived at the scene, brought the fire under control, and recovered four bodies, including one child.
The fire is believed to have been sparked by fuel from the motorcycle’s tank, which spread across the bus.
Eyewitness passengers said that the bus, carrying over 55 passengers from Dhaka, had an altercation between the driver and a passenger.
Ershad Hossain, Station In-Charge of the Fire Service, confirmed that bodies of a male, female, and two children were recovered from the scene.
One of the deceased is believed to have been a passenger on the motorcycle involved in the collision.
Earlier, another fatal accident occurred in the Elliotganj area of the same upazila, where two people lost their lives.
