The government has decided to award medals for 2025 to 92 police personnel, months after the formal presentation ceremony at Police Week 2026 was cancelled.
The decision was confirmed on Monday through a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed by Nasrin Sultana, deputy secretary of the Police-2 branch.
Earlier, on 10 May, medals were scheduled to be presented to police personnel at the parade ground during the inaugural ceremony of Police Week, as in previous years, but the formality was cancelled at the last moment.
Police sources stated at the time that the event was called off because the list of awardees contained the names of several “controversial” personnel.
A total of 107 police personnel were originally slated to receive medals at that time.
Police Headquarters had previously informed that awardees were to be presented with their medals during the annual Police Week parade.
However, the last-minute cancellation created uncertainty among the awardees, which has now been resolved following the official announcement confirming medals for the 92 officers in the new notification.
