Three motorcycle riders were killed and several others critically injured after a speeding bus hit their vehicle on the Fatikchhari-Khagrachhari Road in Chattogram on Monday evening.
The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed.
According to witnesses, a Chattogram-bound bus from Khagrachhari struck the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction near at Felagazi Dighi intersection around 5:45pm.
The bus veered off the road and fell into a nearby field, while the motorcycle collided with a roadside tree, killing one rider instantly at the scene.
Local residents and members of the fire service rescued the injured and rushed them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two more riders dead.
Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Mazharul Islam, second officer of Fatikchhari Police Station, said three people were killed in the road accident.
He added that the injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in critical condition and legal action is being taken over the incident.
