Bangladesh Railway has permanently dismissed two stewards of SA Corporation, the onboard service provider for the Subarna Express running from Dhaka to Chattogram, over involvement in ticket scalping.
The company has also been fined Tk7,500 and asked to submit an explanation by 24 March.
The decision comes after a video circulated on social media showing two individuals engaged in ticket scalping on the Subarna Express. Preliminary investigations confirmed the authenticity of the footage and established the involvement of stewards Minhajul and Imran.
In addition to terminating the employees, authorities have directed SA Corporation to provide a formal explanation regarding the incident.
Officials warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe could result in legal action against the company.
Bangladesh Railway described the move as part of its ongoing efforts to curb ticket irregularities and maintain fair service for passengers.
