Three people, including a woman and her mother-in-law, were killed and several others were critically injured when an Eagle Paribahan bus crashed into a CNG auto-rickshaw on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Chandanaish.
The accident occurred near the Sonai Bottol area in Dohazari around 11:30am on Monday.
The deceased are Fatema Begum (75), Shamina Akhtar (42), and Mohammad Sharif (30), an employee with a pharmaceutical company, whose residence is in Mymensingh.
Several other passengers were injured, and their condition is reported to be critical. The victims were on their way home to Chandanaish from a doctor’s visit in Dohazari.
At least ten people were injured in the crash. The victims were initially taken to Dohazari Hospital and BGC Trust Medical College Hospital, before being transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Several of the injured are in critical condition.
Dohazari Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbub Alam confirmed the crash, stating that the vehicles involved, including the Eagle Paribahan bus, have been seized and brought to the police station.
