A sand-laden bulkhead sank after being hit by a launch in Fatullah of Narayanganj Sadar upazila, leaving two workers missing.
The incident occurred in the Dharmaganj area of the Buriganga River in foggy early hours on Friday.
Local residents said a sand-filled bulkhead was travelling from Munshiganj towards Dhaka when a launch named Sundarban, coming from Dhaka, struck the bulkhead in the Dharmaganj area of Fatullah.
At the time, two workers fell into the river from the bulkhead and have been missing since.
Rakibuzzaman, in-charge of the Baktabali River Police Outpost in Fatullah, said two workers went missing in the river after the collision between the launch and the sand-laden bulkhead in the Dharmaganj area, adding that river police were working to recover the missing persons.
