Two motorcycle riders were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Sharsha, Jashore.
Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Maruf Hossain confirmed the matter on Monday. The accident occurred at Nabharan-Satkhira highway. The deceased have been identified as Shahinur Rahman, 35, and Tofazzal Hossain, 42.
According to local sources, Shahinur was heading towards market on Tofazzal’s motorcycle to sell green chillies harvested from his field. When they reached the highway, their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding truck heading towards Satkhira from the opposite direction.
Locals reported that Shahinur died at the scene. Tofazzal was rescued in critical condition and taken to Nabharan Upazila Health Complex, where he died while undergoing treatment.
OC Maruf said police brought the situation under control and seized both the damaged motorcycle and the truck. However, the truck driver and the helper managed to flee following the accident. Police are working to identify and bring the driver and helper under the law.
