Two people were killed and eight others injured early Thursday when a covered van slammed into a parked truck on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway in Feni’s Sadar upazila.
One of the dead was identified as Jahangir, 40; the other remains unidentified.
Police, hospital officials and witnesses said the truck, loaded with gas cylinders, had been parked roadside in Khaiyara after a tyre burst. As the driver and helper worked to replace it, several locals gathered nearby, UNB reports.
At that time, a Dhaka‑bound covered van lost control and crashed into the truck and bystanders, leaving at least 10 injured.
Rescuers took the victims to Feni General Hospital, where one was declared dead on arrival, said physician Mosharraf Hossain Talukder. Another died during treatment, while five of the injured were referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he added.
Fazilpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge Rashed Khan Chowdhury said both vehicles have been seized.
