Police arrested 19 individuals for involvement in various crimes during a special operation conducted in the Jatrabari area. The drive was carried out on Thursday across several crime-prone locations within the jurisdiction of the police station.
The arrestees have been identified as Shahida Begum, 40, Hasan Ullah, 38, Md Russell, 20, Md Nabil, 23, Md Abdullah Farhad, 23, Md Yusuf Sakib, 24, Abdur Rahman Khan alias Mizu, 28, Sajal alias Auto Sajal, 31, Md Bappi 28, Md Hanif, Mst Shamsunnahar, 45, Afzal Hossain, Md Fazle Rabbi, 22, Md Babul, 32, Arfin Islam Chayan, 23, Md Rabiul Islam, 19, Sagar, 33, Md Mukbul Hossain, 45, and Naim, 18.
According to sources at Jatrabari Police Station, law enforcement recovered two ‘TAURUS’ brand pistols, four magazines, and 77 rounds of live ammunition from the possession of the detainees.
Police seized 59 grams of heroin and 87 grams of “medi” – a substance used in the preparation of heroin – along with Tk22,960 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
Four mobile phones of various brands, allegedly used for criminal activities, were also confiscated during the operation.
The group of detainees includes accused persons in regular cases, individuals with outstanding warrants, people involved in anti-social activities, gamblers, and various other criminals. All the arrested individuals have been sent to the learned court.
