Chattogram WASA will shut down the Kalurghat booster pump station for 18 hours from 9am Sunday (21 June) to realign a 450‑millimeter pipeline during construction of the Kapasgola Bridge over Hijra Canal.
The announcement was made in a WASA notice on Wednesday.
The notice said the step is part of the “Canal re‑excavation, expansion, repair and development project” aimed at resolving waterlogging in Chattogram city.
During the shutdown, water supply will be disrupted in Arakan Road and adjoining areas, Chandgaon residential area, Bahaddarhat, Badurtala, Nabab Sirajuddoula Road and surrounding areas, Chawk Bazar, Chandanpura, Bakalia, Andarkilla, Khaza Road and adjoining areas, Shah Amanat Bridge link road and nearby areas, KB Aman Ali Road, Rahattar Pool, Mia Khan Nagar Road, Kalamia Bazar, Karalok residential area, Tulatoli and Rajakhali.
Chattogram WASA authorities expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience and requested residents of the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance.
