A total of 17,689 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia through 43 return Hajj flights following the completion of this year’s pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, 42 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season.
Of the deceased, 27 were men and 15 were women. Among them, 32 died in Makkah and 10 in Madinah.
The latest figures were available as of Tuesday, according to the authorities concerned. This year’s Hajj rituals concluded on 26 June.
Officials said three designated airlines are operating the return Hajj flights. Of the 43 flights that have brought pilgrims back to Bangladesh so far, 10 were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 15 by Saudia Airlines and 18 by Flynas Airlines.
According to the Hajj Office, 2,082 returning pilgrims travelled under the government management scheme, while 15,607 returned through private travel agencies.
This year’s Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on 18 April and concluded on 21 May.
Return Hajj flights started on 30 May and will continue until 30 June.
