The fire that broke out Tuesday morning at a residence in Halishahar, Chattogram city, has been brought under control. No casualties have been reported so far.
Fire Service officials said the blaze was brought under control within half an hour through prompt action.
According to the Fire Service, their control room received information about the fire at 9:53am. Several units rushed to the spot in Halishahar’s I‑Block area and began efforts to douse the flames. The fire was fully under control by 10:30am.
Officials said the flames spread quickly, but immediate response helped avert major damage.
Police from Halishahar station also arrived immediately and assisted in rescue operations.
Officer‑in‑charge Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin said, “As soon as we received the information, police personnel were dispatched to the scene and monitored the situation.”
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Some locals suspect a gas line leak may have triggered the blaze, though the Fire Service has not confirmed this.
Authorities said the actual cause and extent of damage are under investigation. The situation is now normal, and rescue operations have concluded.
