The Border Guard Bangladesh will deploy 15 platoons in Chapainawabganj to provide security during the 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum.

The deployment plan was announced at a press conference on Sunday afternoon at the Chapainawabganj 53 Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion headquarters.

Speaking at the briefing, 53 Battalion Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman said the force would play a supportive role during the election period to maintain law and order, ensure a peaceful environment, safeguard people’s voting rights and guarantee a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.

He said the Border Guard Bangladesh was fully prepared to carry out the responsibility.

The 53 Battalion commander said a total of 15 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh members would be deployed across the three parliamentary constituencies in Chapainawabganj.

According to the plan, three platoons will be deployed in Shibganj upazila under the Chapainawabganj-1 constituency.

Eight platoons will be deployed in Nachole, Gomastapur and Bholahat under the Chapainawabganj-2 constituency.

Four platoons will be deployed in the Chapainawabganj-3 Sadar constituency.

Members of the 53 and 59 Border Guard Bangladesh battalions will carry out election duties in Chapainawabganj district.
