At least 12 people were injured in clashes between activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami during election campaigning in Alamdanga of Chuadanga.

The clash took place in the Zahurnagar area of Alamdanga over an election door-to-door campaign, locals said.

According to witnesses, an argument first broke out between BNP and Jamaat activists during campaign activities in the Zahurhuda area, which later escalated into chases and counter-chases, followed by clashes between the two sides.

Police later went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Tension was prevailing in the area following the incident.

Confirming the incident, Alamdanga Police Station officer-in-charge Bani Israel said police were still deployed at the scene, adding that no formal complaint had been filed as of yet.
