The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has served show-cause notices on 147 diploma-level educational institutions nationwide for repeatedly failing to enroll students, asking them to explain why their academic approvals should not be revoked.
The directive was issued in a letter signed on Friday by Md Al Masud Karim, inspector (Additional Charge) and Secretary of the Board.
According to the notice, institutions running Diploma in Engineering, Diploma in Textile and Diploma in Agriculture programmes that have recorded no student enrollment for an extended period have been instructed to submit written explanations by June 18.
The institutions have also been asked to clarify why their admission activities should not be halted from the 2026-27 academic session and why permission to continue academic operations should not be withdrawn.
BTEB said the institutions served with notices include 120 offering Diploma in Engineering programmes, 12 offering Diploma in Textile programmes and 15 offering Diploma in Agriculture programmes.
The Board warned that failure to provide satisfactory explanations within the stipulated deadline would result in administrative measures in line with existing regulations and policies.
