The country has recorded 1,318 new suspected measles patients and one suspected death in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services.
Between 8am on 28 April and 8am on 29 April, 88 of the new cases were confirmed to have contracted measles. A total of 962 patients were hospitalised, while 831 recovered and were discharged.
No confirmed measles deaths were recorded during this period.
Since 15 March, a total of 35,980 suspected measles patients have been identified across the country, of whom 4,944 have been confirmed infected. During this period, 24,310 patients were hospitalised, and 20,822 recovered.
So far, 47 confirmed measles deaths have been recorded, while suspected deaths stand at 227.
Dhaka division remains the worst affected, with 16,263 patients identified and 31 confirmed deaths. Rajshahi division is second, with 6,637 patients.
The highest number of suspected patients in the last 24 hours — 620 — was also recorded in Dhaka division, while Mymensingh recorded the lowest at 9.
A national measles-rubella vaccination campaign is ongoing, with 1,09,21,561 children vaccinated between 5 April and 29 April — achieving 99 percent of the target.
In the last 24 hours alone, 14,70,129 children were vaccinated. Among divisions, Rajshahi (104 percent), Rangpur (103 percent) and Mymensingh (100 percent) have met or exceeded their targets, while Sylhet (94 percent) and Barishal (92 percent) lag behind.
Among city corporations, Gazipur leads with 146 percent coverage, followed by Rangpur (117 percent), Cumilla (116 percent) and Chattogram (108 percent). Dhaka North and South have both achieved 98 percent coverage, while Sylhet City Corporation lags at 78 percent.
Overall, 14,24,261 children have been vaccinated in city corporation areas so far.
