The government is implementing 10 projects and has initiated six more to promote self‑employment and entrepreneurship among unemployed youths nationwide, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque told Parliament on Tuesday.
He said this in reply to a scripted question from ruling party lawmaker Mostafizur Rahman Babul (Jamalpur‑3).
The parliament session resumed around 11am with Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal in the chair.
Aminul said the ongoing projects include the Technology Empowerment Centre on Wheels (second phase); Integrated Resource Management through Extensive Technology for Poverty Alleviation (3rd Phase, revised); Life Skills Education at Youth Training Center and Strengthening the National Youth Platform; and Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET (EARN).
Other projects include Leaving No One Behind: Improving Skills and Economic Opportunities for Women and Youth in Cox’s Bazar; feasibility studies for new DYD projects; expansion and modernization of the Central Human Resource Development Centre; ICT training capacity enhancement in 64 districts (second phase); freelancing training for educated job‑seekers; and AI‑based skills development.
He added that six priority projects are also planned to deliver quick, visible impacts by transforming unemployed youths into skilled human resources.
These include strengthening upazila‑level training (second phase); vehicle driving training (second phase); caregiver development for disabled citizens; freelancing training in metropolitan cities; and mobile servicing and language training to facilitate employment at home and abroad.
