Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said jobs will be created for one crore unemployed people within five years.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a massive job fair organised by the PRAN-RFL Group at Lalmonirhat Stadium on Monday.
In his speech, Dulu added that unemployment is a major curse and it has taken an alarming form in the country. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has adopted multi-faceted plans to solve this problem.
He stated that initiatives have been taken to create new employment by increasing investment in both the public and private sectors and by providing special facilities to industrial entrepreneurs.
Dulu expressed his belief that if the plans adopted are implemented within the next five years, advanced employment opportunities will be created for the country’s vast youth population.
Referring to the improvement of the living standards of the poor and marginalised, he said the government has taken steps such as Family Cards, Farmer Cards, and agricultural loan waivers.
Moreover, work opportunities are being created for many poor people at the local level through projects like the canal re-excavation programme. He sought everyone’s cooperation to build a prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh.
The job fair was attended by special guests including the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Hoque Prodhan, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shahadat Hossain Suma and senior officials of the PRAN-RFL Group.
Also present were Organising Secretary of the Lalmonirhat District BNP Afzal Hossain, General Secretary of the Municipal BNP Abdus Salam and along with local dignitaries. Thousands of job seekers from various parts of the country participated in the day-long fair.
