Bangladesh recorded 200 new dengue hospitalisations in last 24 hours till Friday morning.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday, no fatalities linked to the mosquito-borne disease were reported during this period.

Of the new cases, 14 were reported in Barishal Division, 92 in Chattogram Division, 14 in areas of Dhaka Division, 2 in Khulna Division outside city corporation areas, 72 under Dhaka North City Corporation and 6 under Dhaka South City Corporation, the DGHS said.

During the same 24-hour period, 226 patients were discharged after recovery. With this, the total number of recovered dengue patients this year has risen to 94,624.

DGHS data shows that from January to December 5, 2025, Bangladesh has recorded 96,827 dengue hospitalisations and 394 deaths.

In 2024, the country saw 1,011,214 dengue-related hospital admissions and 575 deaths. The year 2023 remains the deadliest on record, with 321,179 admissions and 1,705 fatalities.
