Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will hold a meeting with leaders of BNP, Jamaat, and NCP on Sunday to discuss the election and other contemporary issues.
Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser, disclosed the information while addressing a press conference in front of the CA’s residence Jamuna in Dhaka on Saturday.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam also said, “The Interim Government reaffirms in the strongest possible terms that the national election will be held on time, in the first half of February 2026. This is the solemn commitment of the Interim Government to the people of Bangladesh.”
He added, “All conspiracies, obstructions, or attempts to delay or derail the election will be firmly resisted by the Interim Goverment and our democracy-loving patriotic people.”
Regarding the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, who is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College & Hospital, Shafiqul further said, “If necessary, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, will be sent abroad for proper treatment.”
“An investigation committee will look into whether Jatiya Party had any involvement in the attack on Nur. The chief adviser has ordered the provision of the best medical care for all injured in the attack,” he said.
The press secretary also mentioned that the chief adviser has expressed his condolence to Nur’s family over the phone after the attack. He condemned the unwanted incident and has instructed a judicial investigation into the attack on Nur.
