Shahid Kapoor will have a new female co-star when the crime thriller ‘Farzi’ returns for its second season, with Yukti Thareja joining the cast as the central female lead, writes NDTV.
Thareja confirmed the casting in an interview with Variety India, saying she has already completed around 80% of her scenes. She described her character as a “fearless Gen-Z woman who speaks up against the system” and said the role is layered and substantial.
The actor added that most of her scenes are with Kapoor and that the series is expected to premiere in mid-2027.
Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, ‘Farzi’ follows artist Sunny, played by Kapoor, who becomes involved in counterfeit currency. Raashii Khanna starred as Megha in the first season.
Vijay Sethupathi will return as cop Michael Vedanayagam, while Bhuvan Arora and Kay Kay Menon are also set to reprise their roles. The new season will follow Sunny and Firoz as they expand their operation while facing fresh threats.
