Actor Mukit Zakaria is facing a social media backlash over remarks about asking his wife to prepare paratha and meat at around 4am while she had a 102–103-degree fever.
A 9-minute-23-second clip from a recent television interview went viral. According to viral video, Mukit said he returned home around 4am after a shoot in Narsingdi on a particularly cold night.
He said his wife had a high fever but prepared hot paratha and meat after he told her he was hungry.
The remarks drew criticism from social media users, who questioned why he expected his seriously ill wife to cook at that hour.
Mukit has since pushed back, saying his comments were cut and taken out of context. “It is all being exaggerated. My comments were cut. That was not what I said,” he said.
Mukit, married for 26 years, has said mutual understanding and respect are key to a lasting marriage.
He rose to fame through television commercials before moving into dramas, telefilms and films, with filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki playing an important role in his entry into advertising.
