July Oikya has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking the cancellation of the nominations of independent candidates of Jatiya Party and Awami League, along with what it described as “collaborators of authoritarianism.”

On behalf of July Oikya, the writ petition was filed on Monday afternoon by July Oikya organiser Abdullah Al Mahmud.

July Oikya organiser Israfil Farazi confirmed the matter.

He told the TIMES of Bangladesh that on Monday noon, senior lawyer Barrister A S M Shahriar Kabir filed the writ petition on behalf of July Oikya organiser Abdullah Al Mahmud.

The 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum will be held on 12 February 2026.

In this regard, 29 December was the last date for submitting nomination papers. The scrutiny of nomination papers was completed between 30 December and 4 January.

According to the announced schedule, the deadline for candidates to file appeals is 11 January.

The last date for the withdrawal of candidacy is 20 January, and symbols will be allocated on 21 January.
