Police recovered the semi-decomposed, dismembered body of an unidentified woman from beneath a culvert bridge in Dhaka’s Sabujbagh area on Thursday morning.
Police suspect that the victim was murdered and her body dismembered approximately two to three days ago.
Acting on information, a team from Sabujbagh Police Station recovered the remains from beneath Sabujbagh Culvert Bridge around 9am.
Confirming the incident, Sabujbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said police recovered the victim’s head and both hands from the spot, while the remaining parts of the body were still missing.
He said the recovered body parts indicated that the victim was a woman and that she had likely been killed two to three days earlier.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
“We have called in a specialist team to identify the victim through fingerprint analysis,” OC Saiful Islam said, adding that legal procedures regarding the incident were underway.
