Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children from a room at the District Council Dak Bungalow in Barguna town.
The bodies were found on Wednesday afternoon around 4:30pm on the third floor of the dak bungalow, police said.
The deceased woman was identified as Smriti Rani, wife of Dulal Roy, from the Kalibari area of Barguna town.
Authorities believe the two deceased children were her daughters.
Smriti Rani reportedly worked as a part-time cleaner at the District Council Dak Bungalow.
According to police and local sources, other cleaning staff found the bodies in two adjacent rooms and immediately informed authorities.
Later, police from Barguna Sadar Police Station and members of the Detective Branch recovered the bodies.
Following the incident, District Council Administrator Md Nazrul Islam Molla and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Mohammad Ibrahim visited the scene.
Barguna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Alim said multiple police teams are investigating the incident to determine the cause of death.
He added that the bodies have been sent to hospital for autopsy and further details will be known after investigation.
