Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a drug dealer with 2,000 yaba tablets in the capital’s Motijheel area on Wednesday.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrest in a press release. The detainee has been identified as Yasmin.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid around 8 p.m. on Tuesday in front of a shop at Kamalapur, where Yasmin was apprehended. The yaba tablets were recovered during a search.
During initial interrogation, police learned that Yasmin is a member of an organised drug trafficking syndicate. She reportedly collected yaba tablets from different parts of the country and sold them across various areas of Dhaka.
Police said that legal proceedings are underway.
