A WASA engineer was killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj on Friday.
The deceased, Shamim Reza, was riding a motorcycle with a colleague near WASA Road in the Dhamla area of Sreenagar upazila when an unidentified vehicle struck them on the Sreenagar-Dohar regional highway in the evening.
Shamim died on the spot, while his co-rider sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment, confirmed Dewan Azad Hossain, station officer of Sreenagar Fire Service.
In a separate incident later that night, at least four people were injured when a speeding passenger bus collided with five vehicles, including a private car and a microbus, in the Umpara area of Sreenagar upazila.
Police and fire service officials are investigating both accidents to determine the causes and hold the responsible parties accountable.
