Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangshad on Friday night formally reverted to its original name, Jatiya Chhatra Shokti, following the announcement of its newly formed central and Dhaka University (DU) committees.
This marks the official implementation of an earlier decision to drop the BAGCHAS title.
The newly formed central committee appoints Zahid Ahsan as its president and Abu Baker Majumdar as its general secretary.
Prior to this, Zahid held the position of member secretary in the central BAGCHAS committee, while Bakar was a convener.
In further appointments, Abu Tawhid Mohammad Siam has been named the organizational secretary for the northern region, and Mohir Alam will serve as the organizational secretary for the southern region. Among these four top leaders, Siam is a student of Jahangirnagar University, while the other three are from the University of Dhaka.
Concurrently, the Dhaka University chapter of Jatiya Chhatra Shokti has been constituted with Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury as its president and Al Amin Sarkar as its general secretary.
Mohammad Saifullah, who previously held the position of social service secretary at Mohsin Hall Chhatra Sangshad, has been appointed the unit’s organizational secretary.
