Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, stated on Thursday that voting is taking place in the “most joyful atmosphere in history,” despite reports of irregularities at several locations.
Speaking at a press conference at the party’s central office in Moghbazar at 11am, Zubair highlighted allegations of misconduct in Hatiya (Noakhali), Cumilla, and Bhola.
He claimed that Jamaat polling agents were assaulted in these areas and were obstructed from entering various polling centres.
Addressing the role of the media, the Jamaat spokesperson stated that “media trials” would not hinder the party’s success. He stressed that the organisation expects the media to play a neutral role and does not want to see news outlets act as mouthpieces for any particular political party.
Zubair also expressed disappointment with certain media houses that had supported “fascism in ’24,” accusing them of once again positioning themselves against the interests of the general public.
