Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury cast his vote in the 13th national parliamentary election at the Baridhara Scholars International School and College polling centre in Baridhara DOHS in the capital at 10am on Thursday.

Later, while briefing journalists, the home adviser said that journalists have an important role in making the national election free, fair, and acceptable, stating, “It has been possible to counter the misinformation and propaganda of Indian media because our journalists have presented truthful news.”

The adviser expressed hope at the time that if journalists publish truthful news in the national election as well, it will be possible to prevent rumors and misinformation. He expressed confidence that the media will present accurate and objective news during the national election.

He said that, apart from one or two minor isolated incidents, the election has so far been held in a fair and festive atmosphere. He affirmed his commitment to holding this election in a free, fair, peaceful, acceptable, and festive environment.

Later, the adviser visited the Central Coordination Cell for Law and Order of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Operation Control Room at Police Headquarters.
